A number of residents of Matrouh Governorate called on the concerned authorities to quickly intervene and develop urgent solutions to the problem of the spread of stray dogs in the streets and residential neighborhoods, after increasing complaints from citizens about the danger they pose to children, the elderly, and passers-by.

Residents confirmed that stray dogs have become widespread in the main and side streets, especially during the night, which raises a state of anxiety and fear among citizens, impedes traffic, in addition to the accidents they may cause as they bite or transmit diseases.
Some residents pointed out that the problem has been recurring for some time without any radical solutions, calling on officials in the governorate and the Veterinary Medicine Directorate to intensify campaigns to deal safely with stray dogs, in order to achieve a balance between protecting citizens and preserving animal rights.
The people also called for the need to educate citizens about the mechanisms for reporting places where stray dogs gather, and to activate clear plans to deal with this phenomenon, especially in residential areas and schools.
For their part, citizens hope that the competent authorities will respond to their demands as soon as possible, in order to preserve the safety of the people and achieve a feeling of safety in the streets of the governorate.
