Dr. Muhammad Al-Duwaini, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, received Dr. Muhammad Arifeen bin Muhammad Arif, Minister of Religious Affairs in Sabah State, Malaysia, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of His Eminence Sheikh Ayman Abdul-Ghani, Head of the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Jundi, Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy, to discuss ways to enhance joint scientific and advocacy cooperation between the two sides.
The Undersecretary of Al-Azhar stressed the depth of the historical and scientific relations that link Al-Azhar Al-Sharif with the State of Malaysia, noting that there is great and extended cooperation between the two sides, pointing out that the number of Malaysian students studying at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif is approximately 7,000 male and female students at various levels of education.

He explained that Malaysian students receive generous care and special attention from His Eminence the Grand Imam, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. In appreciation of their academic excellence and their serious keenness to acquire legal and linguistic knowledge at Al-Azhar, stressing that Al-Azhar is proud of the model of the Malaysian student who is scientifically and behaviorally disciplined.
Dr. Al-Duwaini pointed to Al-Azhar’s efforts to train Malaysian imams and preachers through the Al-Azhar International Academy for Training Imams and Preachers, explaining that these training programs focus on correcting misconceptions, refuting extremist ideas, and consolidating the approach of moderation and moderation.
For his part, Dr. Muhammad Arifeen bin Muhammad Arif, Minister of Religious Affairs in Sabah State, Malaysia, expressed his great appreciation for the global role played by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in spreading true religion and promoting the values of tolerance and coexistence, stressing his country’s keenness to deepen cooperation with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in the educational, advocacy and training fields.
