Dr. Kamal Hassan, head of the National Committee for Alternative Media in Venezuela, said that the night of the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in the capital, Caracas, was a “strange day” in the history of Venezuela, noting that what happened was a shock not only to the Venezuelan people, but to the entire world.
He added, during an intervention via Skype, on the Last Word program on ON channel, that the definitive answer about what happened is still under analysis, but the available information indicates that the kidnapping took place from inside a military base in Caracas.
He continued that there is a widespread belief that what happened was the result of “betrayal” from within the ranks of the army, which explains the ease of reaching the president in a place that is supposed to be the most fortified.
