The Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defense arrived a short while ago at the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza, accompanied by the Governor of North Sinai, Major General Khaled Mujawar.
Helen McEntee visits the Egyptian Red Crescent warehouses in Al-Arish to follow up on the Egyptian aid provided to the people of Gaza.
The Irish Foreign Minister visits the Rafah crossing
It was reported that Helen McEntee, Minister of Immigration, Trade and Defense of the Republic of Ireland, will today visit the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip, as part of an official visit, the first of its kind undertaken by the Minister since assuming her position, with the aim of reviewing the efforts to bring humanitarian and relief aid into the Gaza Strip and stressing the importance of facilitating its entry in a manner that is consistent with existing humanitarian needs.
The Irish Minister’s visit comes within the framework of an official tour that includes Cairo, where, before visiting the crossing, she met with Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, in a bilateral discussion session that discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Ireland in the fields of immigration, trade, and defense, in addition to exchanging views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
