Within the framework of the Cultural Development Fund Sector’s keenness to support the cultural movement and enhance the role of criticism in enriching the literary scene, the House of Arab Poetry, Beit El-Sit Wasila, will host a distinguished criticism evening within the Cairo Critical Circle program, at seven in the evening on Sunday, November 30, under the title: “A Critic and a Project… Salah Al-Sarawi.”

The evening celebrates the project of critic and academic Dr. Salah Al-Sarawi, one of the most prominent contemporary critics who contributed to the development of Arab critical discourse, through solid studies that dealt with the structure of texts and their transformations, and contributed to the formation of critical awareness among an entire generation of researchers and creators.

An elite group of professors and critics are participating in the event, including Dr. Mahmoud Al-Dabaa, Dr. Yousry Abdullah, Dr. Ahmed Al-Saghir, and Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Bari, while the symposium is moderated by critic Ahmed Hassan Awad. For his part, Sameh Mahjoub, director of Among Arab Poetry, said in press statements: We value authentic critical projects that establish a solid cognitive awareness. Hosting this episode comes in line with the House’s vision of promoting critical dialogue within cultural institutions, saying: The House of Arab Poetry does not It is separated from its cultural surroundings, but rather works to create bridges between creativity and criticism, and Dr. Salah Al-Sarawi’s project represents a prominent example of the serious critical project that has left a qualitative impact on literary studies, and it is our duty to open spaces worthy of these experiences and provide them with a platform for dialogue.

Mahjoub added that the programs implemented by the Cultural Development Fund seek to “establish a knowledge space in which poets, critics, and researchers interact, in a way that supports the development of literary awareness and serves the Egyptian cultural movement in all its dimensions.”
The evening is part of a series of events presented by the Cultural Development Fund to highlight intellectual and critical icons and consolidate the role of cultural institutions in supporting serious knowledge projects.
