Signed by Dr. Ayman Al-Shehabi, Governor Damiettaand Dr. Al-Saeed Abdel Hadi, President of Horus University, Egypt, a joint cooperation protocol within the framework of strengthening institutional cooperation between the governorate and the university, supporting local development efforts and raising the level of projects of public benefit.

This came in the presence of Dr. Amr Hanafi, a conservative advisor Damietta Spatial Information Systems, Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Al, Vice President of Horus University, Dr. Mohamed Dabaoun, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hatem Khater, Acting Dean of the College of Engineering, and Dr. Hossam El-Din Mustafa, Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics.

Dr. Ayman Al-Shehabi stated that the agreement aims to seek the assistance of specialized academic and engineering expertise at Horus University to provide technical and advisory support to Damietta Governorate, which contributes to raising the efficiency and quality of project implementation in accordance with engineering standards and approved codes, and linking scientific research to the development needs of the governorate.

Cooperation includes reviewing engineering studies and designs, providing technical advice during the implementation stages, following up and technical supervision of projects, in addition to preparing periodic technical reports, providing field training opportunities for students of engineering colleges, and benefiting from the expertise of faculty members and supporting staff.

The Governor of Damietta stressed that this protocol comes within the framework of the ongoing cooperation of the two sides and is part of the university’s community participation and in light of the governorate’s keenness to benefit from scientific and academic expertise, and to achieve the highest quality rates in the implementation of service and development projects, for the direct benefit of citizens. He stressed that the concluded agreement is an integral part of the fruitful and constructive cooperation between the governorate and the university, praising Horus’ efforts in the community participation file, to support the governorate and its people.

For his part, the President of Horus University expressed his pride in cooperating with Damietta Governorate, stressing the university’s commitment to harnessing its scientific and artistic capabilities to support development efforts and effective community participation to serve the governorate and its people.

The protocol is scheduled to be activated through a joint technical committee that includes representatives of both parties, which will coordinate, follow up, and develop work plans for the projects subject to cooperation.

On the sidelines of signing the protocol, the Governor of Damietta and the University President held a meeting that included discussing the mechanism for implementing the protocol’s tasks, as well as strengthening the frameworks of joint cooperation between the two sides and supporting the governorate to develop strategies and a road map to confront current and future challenges and support development visions.
