Major General Muhammad Alwan Governor conducted AssiutA field tour to follow up on the rates of implementation of the development work of Nasser Park in the city of Abu Tej, which is the second zoo in the country after the Giza Zoo, within the framework of the governorate’s plan to raise the efficiency of public parks and maximize the use of unexploited assets.

The governor was accompanied during the tour by Dr. Mina Emad, Deputy Governor, Mr. Khaled Abdel Raouf, Assistant Secretary General of the Governorate, Engineer Issam Abdel Zaher, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing, Mohamed Hassan, Head of the Abutig Center and City, Mustafa Helmy, Director of Field Follow-up in the Governorate, and a number of executive leaders.

Executive position for ongoing business

The governor reviewed the executive position of the ongoing works, which are being implemented with appropriations estimated at approximately 25 million pounds on an area of ​​five acres in the city center, and include raising the efficiency of the park after years of neglect, establishing a modern electricity network and another for irrigating trees, rehabilitating internal corridors, installing interlock tiles, and replacing dilapidated cages, in addition to constructing wooden pergolas with civilized designs.

The development plan also includes raising the efficiency of the “Bride of the Nile” wedding hall and its attached photography area, and establishing a cafeteria in the garden’s marina with a direct view of the Nile River, with the work being completed within four months.

The governor directed that the unused spaces within the park be well exploited, and that its resources be maximized in a way that ensures the sustainability of operation and maintenance, and achieves the maximum service benefit for citizens.

Major General Muhammad Alwan confirmed that the Nasser Park development project comes within the framework of an integrated vision to rehabilitate public assets and improve the level of services provided to citizens, noting that the park represents historical and recreational value for the people of Abu Tej and Assiut Governorate. He added that the development work aims to provide a safe and integrated cultural outlet for families and youth, while preserving the historical character of the place and enhancing its role as a destination for trips and community activities.

Nasser Park is one of the oldest parks in the governorate. It was established in 1962 during the era of President Gamal Abdel Nasser, and has carried his name ever since. It has also been considered a destination for family and school trips and university students, as well as visitors to the Al-Farghul Mosque next to it.
