
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived today, Wednesday, in the Chinese capital (Beijing) for a two-day official visit, his first since assuming office.
China International Television Network (CGTN) reported in its English-language bulletin that Mertz will meet during the visit with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang, and will exchange views with them on bilateral relations between the two countries and issues of common concern.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said yesterday, Tuesday, that cooperation between China and Germany has achieved tangible benefits for the peoples of both countries, stressing that Beijing attaches great importance to its trade relations with Berlin.
