The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced its new classification of football teams in the world, hours after the curtain came down on the Africa Cup of Nations, which was held in Morocco.
The Pharaohs advance 4 places in the world national team rankings
According to FIFA classification, progress Egypt national team 4 places in the world rankings, ranking 31st among the world’s national teams, while the Pharaohs came in fifth place among the African continent’s national teams, where the Egyptian national team is ahead of the teams of Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria, and Algeria in Africa.
At the level of Arab teams, the Egyptian national team came in third place behind the Moroccan and Algerian national teams, noting that the Moroccan national team occupies eighth place at the global level, while the Algerian national team occupies 28th place globally.
The Egyptian national team ended its participation in the last edition of the African Nations Championship by occupying fourth place in the tournament, after losing on penalties to the Nigerian national team in the match for third place and the bronze medalist.
Earlier, the global numbers and statistics website, SofaScore, revealed the ideal formation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after it ended in the late hours of yesterday evening, Sunday, January 18, 2026.
The ideal formation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations witnessed the presence of the Egyptian duo Rami Rabia, “defender,” and Mohamed Salah, “striker.” The complete formation was as follows:
- Goalkeeper: Edouard Mendy (Senegal national team).
- Defensive line: Nassir Mazraoui (Morocco national team), Rami Rabia (Egypt national team), Kelvan Bassey (Nigeria national team), Kripan Diatta (Senegal national team).
- Midfield: Yann Diomande (Côte d’Ivoire national team) – Pape Gueye (Senegal national team) – Idrissa Gana Gueye (Senegal national team) – Amad Diallo (Côte d’Ivoire national team).
