Representative Najla Al-Asili, a member of the House of Representatives, said that the directives Minister of Agriculture and Land ReclamationAlaa Farouk, regarding restarting suspended projects and supporting farmers and exporters, comes at a very important time to enhance food security and advance the agricultural sector.

Providing all means of support for the Egyptian farmer

Al-Asili added in a special statement to “Sada El-Balad”: “Attention to providing all means of support to the Egyptian farmer and raising his efficiency through continuous training programs constitutes a strategic step to ensure the sustainability of production and improve the standard of living of workers in the agricultural sector. Also, following up on suspended projects and setting timetables for restarting them will create a real boom in production and enhance the agricultural sector’s contribution to the national economy.”

The representative stressed that the ministerial directives reflect a clear vision of the state in supporting the local producer and exporters, and protecting the farmer’s capabilities from any exploitation or disruption, stressing that the advancement of the agricultural sector is a national goal that requires full coordination between the ministry, farmers, and the institutions concerned to achieve tangible results as quickly as possible.

Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, held an expanded meeting with the ministry’s leaders and heads of affiliated bodies and sectors, in the presence of Engineer Mustafa Al-Sayyad, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, to develop work plans for the next phase and follow up on urgent assignments to advance the agricultural sector, stressing that food security is a top priority for Egyptian national security in light of the current global challenges.

The Minister directed the need to make optimal use of all available resources, whether land or unexploited assets, stressing the importance of inventorying all suspended projects and setting immediate timetables for their restart.

He also stressed that efficiency is the only evaluation criterion, directing the start of a continuous training and qualification program to raise the efficiency of the Ministry’s employees and the formation of integrated teams and work groups to ensure speedy achievement and teamwork.

The Minister stressed that the Egyptian farmer is the mainstay of production, directing us to provide him with all means of support and not to tolerate anyone who tempts himself to tamper with his capabilities, or disrupt the services provided to him, considering that improving the farmer’s standard of living is a strategic goal that the state places as its top priority to achieve a real breakthrough in the agricultural sector.
