The visual artist Dr. Hossam Saqr, professor of the Faculty of Art Education at Helwan University, passed away this morning, at the age of 59.

The news of his sister’s death was announced through her official account on the social networking site Facebook, and she wrote: We belong to God and to Him we shall return. My beloved brother, Dr. Hossam Saqr, professor of photography at the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University, has passed away. Funeral prayers at Mastura Mosque in Mokattam.
The deceased is considered one of the prominent artists in the plastic movement inside and outside Egypt, as he participated in a large number of art exhibitions and presented many plastic workshops, the most recent of which was the Memory of Mediterranean Fish exhibition, which was held at Liwan Gallery in Zamalek in April 2024.
A number of his friends mourned the deceased, as one of them wrote: Shocking news of the death of the great artist Hossam Saqr. May God have mercy on him and grant him a spacious place in Paradise and inspire his family patience.
