It is noteworthy that Mohamed Hashem is an Egyptian author, publisher, and activist. He founded Merit Publishing House in Cairo in 1998, which is considered one of the most famous publishing houses in Egypt.

Muhammad Hashem was born in the city of Tanta in 1958. He worked as a journalist and author. In 1979, Hashem was involved in the Egyptian communist movement, and was arrested at the time on charges of communism, overthrowing the regime, and insulting the President of the Republic.

In 2020, Muhammad Hashem was arrested after a young poet accused him of harassing her, and the investigating authorities released him at the time on bail of 5 thousand pounds, in the incident of accusing him of harassment and indecent assault in Report No. 2079 of 2020 Abdeen.
