Dr. Abdel Fattah Al-Awari, a member of the Islamic Research Academy and former Dean of the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion in Cairo, delivered a Friday sermon today from Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Mosque, entitled “The relationship of kinship and its role in the stability of society.”
Dr. Al-Awari said that Islamic law came with texts with definitive proof and conclusive significance. These texts urge the establishment of family ties, as through the ties of kinship, societies hold together and keep the brotherly bond strong and strong. The factors of time cannot affect it. It narrows as it begins in the small family, which is considered a building block in the large society. The hadiths come stressing its cohesion, interconnectedness, and compassion among each other so that its knots are not broken, and its grains are scattered and sow discord and discord. Conflicts between members of a small family weaken its strength, its cooperation disappears, its blessings are taken away from its lives and livelihoods, and the serenity, friendliness and love disappear from the hearts of its children.
A member of the Islamic Research Academy added: Perhaps in the words of God Almighty there is proof of the truth of the purpose of the wise Sharia regarding the cohesion of society. In the first verse of Surah An-Nisa, God addresses all people according to the widest, most spacious and most comprehensive circle by saying: “O people, fear your Lord, who created you from a single soul, and created from it its mate, and spread from them many men and women, and fear God, by whom you ask, and the wombs. Indeed, God is a Watcher over you.”
The preacher of Al-Azhar Mosque called on Muslims in these days to fear God regarding the wombs and not sever them, because severing the womb is a violation of God’s covenant between them and Him, Glory be to Him, because the one who commanded them to be joined is God, so whoever cuts them, God will cut them off, and whoever joins them, God will connect them, citing the Almighty’s saying: “Is it possible that, if you were appointed, you would spread corruption in the land and sever your ties of kinship?
He noted that maintaining family ties increases longevity and is a reason for blessings in livelihood and children, and this is what Al-Sadiq Al-Masduq, peace and blessings of God be upon him, told us in the authentic hadith: “Whoever is pleased to have his life extended and his provision extended to him, let him maintain his ties of kinship,” stressing that maintaining family ties does not require a reward, as the one who connects relatives is not the one who rewards them, as stated in the hadith, but the one who continues them is one who joins those who cut them off, gives to those who deprive them, and pardons those who have wronged them, demanding to be careful about maintaining the ties of kinship.
He stressed that family ties must remain in order to keep society together, stable and happy. In those difficult days, we are in need of recalling the meanings of family ties, which is a reason for the stability of society, and which starts from the small community represented by the family, all the way to the large community represented by homelands and nations.
He stressed that humanity was united by the first womb, but we now see it having severed its wombs and wreaking havoc on the earth, disrupting the peace of human unity and the human cohesion that is united by the womb of Adam and Eve. Humanity has severed its wombs, so the strong eat the weak, despite the fact that God sent messengers to it with the laws of peace so that it could live safe and secure. So it disavowed the guidance of heaven and took a rugged road in which the law of the jungle was applied, and was killed. War brokers, arms dealers, and owners of factories of destruction and devastation stood on its roof, a third. Humanity is dying of hunger, and their rich brothers do not pay attention to them. Rather, the earth’s bounties and the treasures it produces go back to the deadly weapons factories, and it is said that the strong are weak, so they kill women, children, and the elderly, and demolish homes, schools, universities, and places of worship in the name of the party of Satan. Indeed, the party of Satan are the losers.
He stressed that if humanity wants peace, security, reassurance, and connection to family ties, it must abandon these crimes committed in an era in which the powerful claim that they are the people of civilizations, freedoms, and democracy. “May God kill them, for how can they be fooled?” Indeed, humanity should return to the guidance of heaven, adhere to the values of peace, and achieve freedom among its members until wars stop, the environment is purified, and society becomes dominated by true brotherhood, so that it does not become poor or die hungry.
