The health sector in Sohag Governorate achieved a new achievement that is added to the record of the Governorate’s Health Affairs Directorate, after it was ranked fifth in the republic in the field of epidemiology and surveillance for the month of January 2026, out of 27 governorates.
This progress comes under the leadership of Dr. Amr Dowidar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Sohag, and as a result of the careful implementation of the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, and Major General Dr. Abdel Fattah Siraj, Governor of Sohag, in addition to the distinguished efforts made by the preventive affairs sector in the governorate.
Intensive efforts by surveillance teams
This achievement came under the supervision of Dr. Al-Nimr Muhammadin Nour Al-Din, Director General of Preventive Affairs, and the follow-up of Dr. Marwa Muhammad Bindo, Director of the Epidemiology and Surveillance Department, and with intense efforts from the directorate’s surveillance teams, who confirmed their determination to continue working to achieve first place during the coming period.
This distinction is the culmination of the efforts of the epidemiological surveillance teams in all health facilities in the governorate, including hospitals and health units in various departments, through careful monitoring of epidemiological cases, rapid response, and raising the efficiency of the health and preventive monitoring system.
For his part, Dr. Amr Dowidar thanked and appreciated all the workers in the preventive affairs sector, headed by Dr. Al-Nimr Mohamedin Nour El-Din, Dr. Marwa Mohamed Bando, and all the work teams in the health departments and hospitals, appreciating their sincere efforts in preserving the health of citizens, stressing the continuation of full support for developing performance and achieving advanced positions at the level of the Republic.
