Today, the villages and centers of the Gharbia Governorate witnessed heavy rains, strong winds, and dust-laden storms, amid a noticeable drop in temperatures and an increase in the frost wave at the level of the villages and centers of the governorate.

Directions of the Western Governor

The weather changes caused a partial disruption of transportation, which prompted citizens to wear heavy clothing for fear of being exposed to severe colds.

Major General Ashraf El Gendy, Governor of Gharbia, issued his directives to the heads of cities and neighborhoods and the deputy ministers to raise the maximum level of preparedness in all sectors to receive the winter and rainy season, directing the heads of centers, cities and neighborhoods to develop a plan for the rapid deployment of equipment and emergency teams to be present in the streets of the governorate to confront any emergency or accumulation of rainwater in any location through full coordination with the drinking water and sanitation company in the event of rain and ensuring the readiness and suitability of technical devices and equipment to move quickly towards places. Water collections, in addition to continuing to disinfect all rainwater drains and performing the necessary maintenance work on them, reviewing all dilapidated buildings and taking all measures regarding facilities that are likely to collapse.

Heavy rain

The Governor of Gharbia directed, in full coordination with the electricity sector, to review public lighting poles, seal the panels and openings in the poles, change damaged insulators on the lighting networks, remove unsecured random connections, and repair all holidays therein in order to preserve the health and safety of citizens, indicating the continued activation of operating rooms in the centers and cities of the governorate and linking them to the main operations room in the General Office to first follow up on the situation, receive complaints and reports from citizens, and quickly respond to them immediately.
