Mabrouk Al-Ghamrini, head of the city of St. Catherine in South Sinai Governorate, led a campaign to monitor damage and damage to some areas of the city as a result of moderate rain falling throughout the city on Saturday morning.
The city president said that damage had been detected in some electricity networks, and the electricity company was assigned to repair faulty cables that were damaged as a result of the rainfall, and to cover exposed areas in order to preserve the lives of children and the security and stability of citizens and tourists.
The city’s president explained in a statement today that the rain and strong winds caused some electrical wires to fall in some areas, and the electricity supply to them was cut off to protect the residents until the repair work was completed.
He confirmed that the electricity company sent a team of technicians who were able to repair the damaged power lines, dry the components, then inspect the cables and replace the damaged ones, pointing out that the atmosphere in the city is stable, and the roads are operating normally.
The city mayor appealed to citizens not to approach thrown wires, and to immediately call emergency services to report malfunctions so that the network can be quickly diagnosed and repaired by specialized technicians.
He pointed out that the campaign’s mechanical equipment was deployed to open the entrance road to Wadi Al-Arbaeen and connect it to the residential units in the Wadi Al-Raha area.
This morning, the city of St. Catherine was subjected to moderate intensity rain that did not last more than a third of an hour and then stopped, resulting in simple pools of water on the mountain tops, falling in the form of simple waterfalls that followed their natural path, and clouds covered the city’s sky.
