The Supreme Council for Media Regulation, headed by Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz, decided to refer musician Hani Muhanna to the Federation of Artistic Syndicates, headed by director Omar Abdel Aziz, to carry out its affairs regarding his statements that included insults and attacks on a number of Egyptian art icons, while hosting him in a program, while obligating all media outlets subject to the provisions of Law No. (180) of 2018 to prevent his appearance until the Federation completes its procedures.

This decision comes based on what was monitored by the Council’s General Department of Monitoring, and the recommendations of the Complaints Committee, headed by journalist Essam Al-Amir, Deputy of the Council.
Musician Hani Muhanna, breaking his silence, came out to respond to the recent controversy regarding statements attributed to him related to the stars of the good old days, led by the artists Shadia and Faten Hamama, stressing that he did not intend to offend or insult in any way.
Hani Muhanna said in statements to Cairo 24 that his speech was distorted and circulated out of its correct context, explaining: I did not mean to insult our symbols, as any insult to my colleagues is an insult to me personally, and this is not in line with my history or my style, which does not allow such matters.
