Dr. Ismail Al-Arabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in the Red Sea, announced that all hospitals and health units at the governorate level have been raised to the maximum level of readiness, in preparation for receiving New Year’s and Christmas celebrations, to ensure the readiness of the health system and the continuity of providing medical services to citizens 24 hours a day.

This comes within the framework of the directives of Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar Deputy Cabinet Minister and Minister of Health and Population, and Major General Amr Hanafy, Governor of the Red Sea.

Al-Arabi stressed the readiness of the reception and emergency departments in all hospitals, with their support with medical staff, including doctors, nurses and technicians, and the increase in the number of shifts during the celebrations, to ensure rapid handling of any emergency cases or accidents that may occur.

Emphasis was also placed on raising the level of readiness in operating rooms and intensive care units, ensuring the readiness of medical equipment and the availability of surgical supplies, in addition to full coordination between public and central hospitals to ensure immediate transfer of critical cases when needed.

With regard to health units, emphasis was placed on the regularity of their work according to their schedules, and the continued provision of basic health care services, while ensuring the availability of the necessary medicines and medical supplies, especially emergency medicines.

It was also ensured that there was a sufficient stock of blood bags and blood derivatives in the blood banks, and that the level of preparedness was raised, while reviewing the balances of the various groups to ensure that hospitals’ needs were quickly met at any time, and following up on commitment to applying quality standards and infection control policies.
