Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received his brother, King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, at Cairo International Airport. The President accompanied the King to the Ittihadiya Palace to hold bilateral discussions between the two sides.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the reception ceremony at the Ittihadiya Palace included the honor guard saluting, playing music for the two countries’ national anthems, and taking a souvenir photo, followed by a bilateral meeting between the two leaders, then an expanded discussion session with the participation of the delegations of the two countries, followed by a luncheon held by the president in honor of the King of Jordan and the accompanying delegation.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, indicated that the discussions included the President’s welcoming of the Jordanian King to his second country, Egypt, stressing his sovereignty over the specificity of the fraternal relations that bring together Egypt and Jordan, and the necessity of advancing them in a way that achieves the interests and aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

For his part, the Jordanian King expressed his happiness at visiting Egypt, stressing his appreciation for the fraternal relations and fruitful cooperation that bind the two brotherly countries, stressing also the Jordanian side’s keenness to continue working with Egypt to push bilateral relations to broader horizons, as well as strengthening bilateral political consultation on various files of interest.

The official spokesman added that the meeting discussed developments in the Gaza Strip, where the two leaders stressed the necessity of fully implementing the agreement to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, implementing President Trump’s peace plan, and enhancing the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip without restrictions, in addition to quickly starting early recovery and reconstruction operations in the Strip.

The two leaders also reaffirmed the firm position of Egypt and Jordan rejecting any attempts to displace the Palestinian people outside their land. They also addressed the latest developments in the situation in the West Bank, where in this regard they renewed their rejection of all violations and arbitrary practices against the Palestinian people.

In the same context, the two leaders stressed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Middle East region.

The official spokesman indicated that the meeting also touched on the latest developments in the situation in a number of countries in the region, where the importance of reducing escalation and regional tension, enhancing joint action to maintain stability in the region, the necessity of resolving crises through peaceful means, respecting the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of countries, and preserving the capabilities of their peoples, were stressed.

In this context, the two leaders stressed the need to continue political consultation between Egypt and Jordan on various files, and to intensify joint coordination, in a way that contributes to supporting regional peace and stability.

The official spokesman stated that the current position of bilateral relations between the two countries was also reviewed, as the two leaders expressed their satisfaction with the development witnessed by these relations, stressing the need to move forward in strengthening and improving them in various fields, including preparing for the next session of the joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee.

After the end of the events at the Ittihadiya Palace, the President was keen to accompany Egypt’s honorable guest to Cairo International Airport, where he bid farewell to His Majesty, heading to the sisterly Kingdom of Jordan.
