Operating 5 health units to dispense treatment at state expense to support patients with chronic diseases
Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Sadiq, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Qena, explained that this is within the framework of the state’s directives and the plan of the Ministry of Health and Population to reduce the burden on citizens and reduce pressure on hospitals, and under the supervision of Dr. Enas Farouk, Director of the Basic Care Department in the Directorate.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Qena confirmed that these units aim to provide basic care services, in addition to providing medication dispensing services for patients with chronic diseases, especially those with high blood pressure and diabetes, by providing internal medicine specialists within these units.
Sadiq pointed out that the units that were operated included the health unit in the village of Kom Yacoub in Abocht, the health unit in the village of Al-Arki in Farshout, the Family Medicine Center in Nag Hammadi, the Aisha Al-Marzouq Center in Qena, and the Al-Kalalasa Unit in Qus.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health pointed out that within these units, tripartite sessions are held to review patients’ eligibility for treatment decisions at state expense, identify eligible cases, and then dispense their medications directly, ensuring speedy service provision and reducing overcrowding inside hospitals.
Sadiq added that this step comes within the directorate’s efforts to expand the umbrella of health services and reduce the burden on citizens, noting that the directorate is working according to an integrated plan to expand the operation of a larger number of basic care units that provide treatment services at state expense during the coming period, in order to achieve justice in distributing medical services and reaching the largest number of beneficiaries.
