Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor, confirmed AssiutThe year 2025 is a milestone in the process of developing the education sector in the governorate, noting that this sector has received unprecedented attention and support from the political leadership, within the framework of the state’s directives, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to achieve sustainable development and build the Egyptian human being in accordance with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Education sector achievements

The Governor of Assiut explained that the Directorate of Education, led by Mohamed Ibrahim Desouki, Undersecretary of the Ministry, in coordination and cooperation with the Educational Buildings Authority branch in the governorate, led by Engineer Mustafa Abdel Fattah, Director General of the Authority branch in Assiut, was able during the current year to establish many new schools in various villages and centers, to confront the steady increase in the number of students and eliminate the two-shift system, especially the evening shift, which contributes to improving the quality of the educational process and providing a safe and stimulating study environment for students and teachers.

The governor indicated that during the year 2025, the construction of 22 new schools with 344 classrooms was completed, at a total cost of about 311.5 million pounds, in addition to offering 11 new schools with a capacity of 191 classrooms, with preparations to launch 24 other schools with 514 additional classrooms, within the framework of an ambitious plan to reduce student densities.

Urgent maintenance work was also carried out for 197 schools in various centers and cities of the governorate, at a cost of 227 million pounds, and with continuous follow-up by engineers of the Educational Building Authority, to ensure the quality of implementation and raise the efficiency of educational facilities.

The governor added that work is currently underway on 16 new schools with 316 classrooms, at an estimated cost of 317.5 million pounds, which reflects the volume of investments directed to developing the educational infrastructure in the governorate.

In a step aimed at supporting the early education stage, Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr indicated that 44 new halls for the kindergarten stage (KG1) have been opened in public, public and private schools in various governorate centers for the academic year 2025/2026, in order to accommodate the increasing numbers of advanced children, with the age of acceptance being lowered, in order to achieve the principle of equal opportunities and in line with the National Education Strategy.

Within the framework of the state’s interest in people of determination, the Governor of Assiut opened the first phase of the “Egy Smart” Academy at the Al-Fath Center, to provide integrated educational, rehabilitative and care services for children with disabilities, which contributes to their integration into society and empowering them with their educational rights. He also issued his directives to develop intellectual education schools at the governorate level, numbering 9 schools, to have clinics for physical therapy, dentistry, and internal medicine, and to be equipped with all necessary medical equipment to support students with determination and alleviate their suffering. He also opened Al-Amal Preparatory Secondary School for Boys for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the city of Assiut, after raising its efficiency and rehabilitating it at a cost of approximately 3.5 million pounds, with the participation of the Sonaa Al-Khair Foundation for Development and support from Emirates NBD Bank, in addition to laying the foundation stone for the Al-Nour School for the Blind in the village of Bani Adiyat in the Manfalut Center, at a total cost of 24 million pounds.

The year 2025 witnessed the laying of the foundation stone for a number of distinguished schools, including St. Mary’s International Language School in the city of Manfalut, in the presence of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, in addition to the opening of the “Al-Mahabba” School (Arabic – Languages) in the new teachers’ area in the West Assiut neighborhood, and the laying of the foundation stone for the “Al-Mahabba International” and “Al-Mahabba Language” schools in New Nasser City.

The governor explained that the year witnessed the visit of the Prime Minister and Minister of Education to Assiut Governorate, and he inspected a number of schools, including the Ahmed Deif Allah International School for Applied Technology, within the framework of the ministry’s plan to expand this type of education and link it to the needs of the labor market.

Exhibitions for the products of technical education schools were also opened, to support students and develop their production skills, while seeking to provide outlets for marketing these products locally and abroad, with the aim of participating in international exhibitions in the future.

The governor pointed out the opening of the activities of the twenty-ninth edition of the “Glimpses of India” drawing competition for the year 2025, with the participation of about 1,300 students from various educational departments, within the framework of cultural cooperation between Egypt and India, with honoring the distinguished and granting them certificates of appreciation and financial rewards amounting to 165 thousand pounds.

The Governor of Assiut concluded his statements by emphasizing the governorate’s continued full support for the education sector at all levels, and overcoming obstacles to developing the educational process, believing that education is the cornerstone of human building and achieving comprehensive development, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
