Dr. Khaled Abdel Halim, Governor, said QenaHe decided to take a package of new decisions regarding entry controls to the Nile Corniche in the city of Qena, as part of responding to citizens’ complaints and observations during the trial opening period.

Corniche entry controls

The governor of Qena explained to Cairo 24 that the governorate decided to cancel the 20-pound fee for turning under the Dendera El Mal Bridge at the entrance to the Corniche, while obliging vehicle drivers to continue driving above the Dendera Bridge to make the turn, which contributes to organizing traffic and preventing congestion.

The governor added that it was decided to allow the entry of light foods and beverages such as sandwiches, pizza, and beverages, stressing at the same time that the entry of foods with strong odors, especially fesikh and the like, is prohibited, in order to preserve public taste and the comfort of those who frequent the Corniche.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Halim explained that the car entry ticket to the Corniche is only 20 pounds, stressing that there are no fees or other amounts collected from citizens while they are inside the Corniche.

The Governor of Qena indicated that the contracting company implementing the development work is currently managing the soft opening, pointing out that the final handover of the Corniche will take place from the company after the full completion of the development work in accordance with the approved specifications.

In a related context, the governor announced the reduction of fees for entering bathrooms from 5 pounds to 2 pounds, taking into account social distancing and relieving citizens’ burdens.
