I confirmed Christen CapoVice President of the global CSI KGM Group, said that the new Red Sea container handling terminal area in the port of Ain Sokhna represents a qualitative leap in the speed of transporting goods between the continents of Asia, Africa and Europe.
She explained, during an official ceremony in early 2026 in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, that this station will directly enhance Egypt’s position on the global container trading map, and support its ambitions to transform into a regional and international logistics center.

Capo indicated that the group is contributing strongly to the renaissance witnessed by the Egyptian transport sector by participating in the establishment of many container terminals and dry ports in various parts of the country.
Cabo praised the Egyptian efforts that succeeded in building advanced infrastructure that matches international standards, pointing out that the group currently operates about 40 ship trips per month through its container terminals in Egypt, which reflects great confidence in the efficiency of Egyptian ports. The Red Sea Container Handling Terminal is expected to contribute to doubling these operational capabilities in early 2026, as it was designed to accommodate the latest generations of giant ships and provide integrated logistical services that ensure the smooth flow of international trade in one of the most important shipping lanes in the world.
The Sokhna terminal is preparing to handle 1.7 million containers annually with a draft of 18 metres
The Red Sea Container Handling Terminal in Ain Sokhna Port is a model of smart and advanced ports in early 2026, as it includes a berth 1,200 meters long and a draft of up to 18 metres, allowing it to receive the largest container ships in the world. The station extends over a large area of 72 hectares, and is supported by a fleet of modern equipment, including 18 giant cranes and 6 RTG yard cranes. The terminal’s capacity is scheduled to reach about 1.7 million containers annually, which will contribute to reducing ships’ waiting time and accelerating loading and unloading operations.
