The Iranian government announced, on Tuesday, the recall of its German ambassador, against the backdrop of opposing positions To Tehran taken by his country.
The Iranian government information website said that in the wake of the anti-Iranian movements in Germany and the destructive and illegal stances of the country’s officials against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Axel Dittmann, the German ambassador to Tehran, was summoned by Ali Reza Yousefi, Director General for Western Europe at the Foreign Ministry, and was informed of our country’s severe protests.
Anti-Iranian actions and movements
In this summons, the Director General of Western Europe at the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned anti-Iranian actions and movements, especially hosting and supporting violent and terrorist elements and groups, stressing that these positions and actions contradict the basic principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and lead to an international responsibility that falls on the shoulders of the German government, according to the government website.
The statement concluded that the German ambassador said that he would convey Iran’s strong protests and dissatisfaction to Berlin.
In recent days, the German city of Munich witnessed an unprecedented massive gathering against Iran, at the invitation of oppositionist Reza Pahlavi from abroad, the son of the last Shah of Iran. According to German police estimates, 250,000 people participated in it, and Reza Pahlavi was invited to attend the Munich Security Conference, to participate in a side session held last Saturday.
