The competent authorities began investigating 21 high-risk criminal elements, including 18 foreigners, accusing them of bringing narcotic substances through mountain paths and desert paths in preparation for trafficking in them.
Investigating those accused of forming a gang to bring and traffic in drugs
Today, the session to renew the detention of the defendants witnessed lawyer Muhammad Al-Nimr presenting the defense of the first, second, sixth and twentieth defendants with defenses before the competent investigation authorities, demanding the release of his clients.
The defenses presented by lawyer Muhammad Al-Nimr included the invalidity of the investigations by the Public Prosecution because there was no translator with the accused and the failure to confront the defendants in custody, the invalidity of the Public Prosecution’s permission to obtain it after the arrest of the accused, the absence of the elements of habeas corpus with their physical and moral elements, and the absence of the accused’s relationship to detention, in addition to the absence of justifications for pretrial detention.

For its part, the Ministry of the Interior had previously issued a statement regarding the incident, which said: Information and investigations of the Anti-Narcotics, Unlicensed Weapons and Ammunition Sector were able to bring in an international gang formation that includes 21 highly dangerous criminal elements, including 18 members who hold the nationalities of different countries, to bring large quantities of narcotic substances through mountain paths and desert paths to the country’s southern borders in preparation for trafficking in them.
Thwarting an attempt by a highly dangerous international gang to bring in quantities of drugs
After codifying the procedures, the members of the formation were tracked down, the necessary ambushes were prepared for them, and they were seized. They were in possession of approximately 200 kilograms of various narcotic substances: cocaine, powder, hydro, hashish, ice, and a quantity of narcotic tablets. The financial value of the seized narcotic substances was estimated at about 110 million pounds.
Legal measures were taken against the accused and the seized items.
