The National Social Insurance Authority announced the raising of the minimum and maximum limits for the insurance subscription wage as of January 1, 2026, in implementation of the provisions of the Social Insurance and Pensions Law No. 148 of 2019 and its executive regulations.
This comes as a new step that reflects the state’s commitment to expanding the umbrella of social protection and achieving insurance justice, and as a continuation of the plan of the National Social Insurance Authority to improve pension values annually in light of its financial capabilities.
Major General Gamal Awad, Chairman of the Authority’s Board of Directors, explained that the minimum insurance subscription wage will rise from 2,300 pounds to 2,700 pounds, while the maximum will rise from 14,500 pounds to 16,700 pounds. He explained that this amendment aims to link the actual wages of the insured to their future insurance entitlements, which contributes to improving the level of pensions, as the minimum pension for those referred for retirement will rise starting from January 2026 to 1,755 pounds instead. From 1,495 pounds, the maximum pension will reach 13,360 pounds, compared to 11,600 pounds currently.
Awad pointed out that the implementation of the plan to improve pension values resulted in gradual increases in insurance limits during the period from 2019 to 2026, as the minimum pension rose from 900 to 1,755 pounds, and the maximum from 6,480 to 13,360 pounds, in a clear indication of the state’s keenness to strengthen the social safety net and provide a decent life for pensioners and those entitled to it.
It should be noted that Law No. 148 of 2019 obligated business owners to insure the actual wage of the insured, and that the aim of determining the minimum contribution wage is to determine the wage for some categories whose wages are difficult to determine, such as irregular workers, contracting, construction and construction workers, as well as agricultural workers…etc.
In the context of facilitating business owners and establishments with more than 100 insured persons, the Chairman of the Authority indicated the possibility of submitting wage adjustment forms via an electronic medium such as a “flash memory” or a “CD” that includes the insured’s data and wage adjustments, provided that it is delivered to the relevant insurance office.
