Australian police said on Sunday that several people were injured following a shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney.

The New South Wales State Police stated in a post on the X platform that the security operation is still underway, calling on citizens to avoid the area, according to Reuters.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that several people were injured, while Sky News and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) broadcast footage showing people lying on the ground.
Video clips circulating on the X platform showed people fleeing in Bondi Beach, while the sounds of several gunshots and police car sirens could be heard.
A spokesman for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that the authorities are aware of the existence of an active security situation in the Bondi area, calling on those in the vicinity of the place to adhere to the instructions issued by the New South Wales Police.
The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the incident occurred during a celebration of the Jewish Festival of Lights, and there were approximately 2,000 people in the place.
