Alaa Farouk Wazir revealed Agriculture And Land Reclamation revealed an exceptional harvest of Egyptian agricultural exports during the year 2025, reaching about 9.5 million tons of agricultural crops, recording an unprecedented increase of more than 800 thousand tons compared to last year.

The Minister of Agriculture indicated that the total value of Egyptian fresh and manufactured agricultural exports amounted to about 11.5 billion dollars during the year, which is also an unprecedented number, as agricultural exports alone accounted for about 24% of Egypt’s total exports, which confirms the role of the agricultural sector as a real engine of economic growth.

Increase agricultural exports to 9.5 million tons in 2025

According to an official report issued by the Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine, citrus fruits topped the list of Egyptian exports with a quantity of 2 million tons, which strengthens Egypt’s position as the largest exporter of oranges in the world for the sixth year in a row. Potatoes also came in second place with a quantity of 1.3 million tons, followed by potatoes, which achieved a major boom by reaching 387 thousand tons.

According to the report, the order of the most important exports was as follows: beans (fresh and dry), amounting to about 336 thousand tons, fresh onions, amounting to 288 thousand tons, then grapes, which amounted to about 191 thousand tons, followed by pomegranates and mangoes, amounting to 136 thousand and 126 thousand tons, respectively, as well as tomatoes and strawberries, which recorded 68 thousand and 64 thousand tons, respectively, with a noticeable growth in European demand.

The Minister of Agriculture said that this achievement confirms the success of the state’s strategy in enhancing food security and transforming the agricultural sector into a major supplier of hard currency, noting that the Egyptian product enjoys great confidence in international markets, due to its quality, as about 405 agricultural products are currently exported to about 167 countries around the world, which strengthens Egypt’s position as a global agricultural power.

Farouk praised the efforts made by all parts of the system, starting from the farms and ending with the exporter, and the pivotal role played by the Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine and reference laboratories in ensuring the safety of products, as well as foreign agricultural relations, and the ministry’s continuous efforts in cooperation with the concerned authorities to open more new and non-traditional markets for Egyptian products, and to overcome the logistical and procedural challenges facing exporters to support sustainable growth in the export sector, in addition to the complete digitization of agricultural quarantine services that facilitated examination and approval procedures, which reduced the release time. Customs duties and increased the pace of export flows.

In a related context, Dr. Mohamed Al-Mansi, Head of the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine, indicated that during the year 2025, more than 25 new export markets were opened, the most prominent of which are markets in East Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean countries, pointing to the most prominent efforts that have been made to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian agricultural exports, among which comes the coding system that allowed tracking the product from the field until it reaches the final consumer, in addition to strict control and full commitment to international phytosanitary and quality standards, in addition to The ability of the Egyptian product to excel in the European and Gulf markets.
