An official railway source revealed that the movement Trains Coming from Upper Egypt witnessed delays exceeding two hours this morning, as a result of sudden malfunctions in some signaling systems on a number of lines.

The source explained to Cairo 24 that the malfunctions were dealt with as soon as they were discovered, with a system of written orders applied at the malfunction sites to ensure the continuity of operation and maintain safety factors, until the repair work was completed and movement was fully restored.

Railway trains delayed in Upper Egypt

The source indicated that among the trains affected by the delays was train No. 1903, which was scheduled to arrive at Giza station at 5:30 a.m., but it arrived at 8:25 a.m., and train No. 83 (sleep) Aswan – Cairo was delayed, as it was scheduled to arrive at 5:10 a.m. and arrived at 7:30 a.m.

The source added that the delays also affected a number of other trains, including train No. 977, air-conditioned, train No. 87, Sleep Aswan – Cairo, train No. 2031, Talgo, air-conditioned, Aswan – Cairo, train No. 2009, Spanish, upgraded, Aswan – Cairo, in addition to train No. 185, Russian, pointing out that most of the Upper Egypt trains were affected to varying degrees.

The source confirmed that maintenance teams are working around the clock to fix technical faults, stressing that passenger safety is the authority’s top priority, and that the regularity of appointments will be announced immediately upon completion of the ongoing work.
