Follow Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal, Governor Aswan The results of the efforts of the National Food Safety Authority branch, which included implementing 84 inspection campaigns over the course of a month to ensure the quality of the displayed goods, products and foodstuffs, and their suitability for human consumption, especially with the approaching month of Ramadan.

The Governor of Aswan was charged with the importance of continuous coordination between all concerned parties and local officials, to intensify the efforts of the joint committees on food establishments, restaurants, markets, outlets, consumer complexes and exhibitions, and to follow up on the prices of goods and announce them clearly, while working to enhance the strategic stocks of goods to prevent any bottlenecks, especially vital goods for which demand increases during the holy month.

For his part, Engineer Michael Alfi, Director of the National Food Safety Authority branch, explained that based on the instructions of the Aswan Governor, a series of inspection campaigns are being implemented in various cities and centers of the governorate, where 837 food facilities were visited.

The campaign’s efforts resulted in the issuance of 31 death reports weighing 277 kg of food of unknown origin, expired and poorly stored poultry, meat and poultry products, baked goods, dairy products, juices, soft drinks and sweets, including biscuits and cakes. Legal measures were taken, and 2 reports were issued due to lack of food safety requirements.

He pointed out that hypermarket branches of commercial chains in the governorate were also visited, as well as 92 tourist establishments for boats and hotels, in order to follow up on the implementation of food safety requirements and registration with the authority, with the implementation of 2 inspection campaigns with the participation of the regulatory authorities in the Veterinary Medicine Directorate, the Consumer Protection Agency, and public store licenses.

The campaigns targeted 7 food establishments, and 100 kg of poultry and 50 kg of fresh fish were seized, and the necessary measures were taken against violators.
