Dr. Ahmed Essam Farhat said, while presenting the program “Read and Your Lord is Most Generous” on “Sada El Balad” channel: The Holy Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad – may God bless him and grant him peace – when he was forty years old. The revelation of the Qur’an continued for 23 years: 13 years in Mecca, and 10 years in Medina. The Prophet – may God bless him and grant him peace – died at the age of 63 years. The Holy Qur’an consists of 30 parts, the number of its surahs is 114 surahs, and the number of its verses is 6236 verses.
He continued: During the era of the Prophet – may God bless him and grant him peace – there were a number of companions – may God be pleased with them – who would write the Holy Qur’an when the revelation came, and among them were the four caliphs: Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, Omar bin Al-Khattab, Othman bin Affan, and Ali bin Abi Talib, as well as Abdullah bin Saad bin Abi Al-Sarh, Ubayy bin Ka’b, Khaled bin Al-Walid and others, and they were known as “the writers of revelation.”
