The Egyptian national team recently won over its South African counterpart, in the framework of the second round matches in the second group of the 2025 African Cup of Nations, with a score of 1-0.
Mohamed Hani received a red card during the match between Egypt and South Africa, in stoppage time of the first half, after receiving a second warning.

Mohamed Hani said: My first warning was not deserved, but the referee made the decision.
