Al-Azhar student, Maryam Abdel Aziz, commented on her meeting with the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in the Sheikhdom of Al-Azhar, saying: May God bless him and I greeted him before that, as I read before him at the activities of the Conference on Investing in Religious and Media Discourse and its Impact on Protecting and Promoting Women’s Rights in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Countries.
The first comment from student Maryam after meeting with the Sheikh of Al-Azhar: I was happy.. and he said, “Your voice is beautiful and you stole our hearts with your reading.”
She added during her talk to Cairo 24: He talked to me about reading at the conference and told me that you were good, and he said that you captured all of our hearts and that your voice is beautiful, and I told him that I am a reciter and a singer and I posed with him, adding: The Grand Imam directed and said, “If Mary needs anything, do it.”
The student, Maryam, said that she felt happy during the meeting with the Grand Imam, and at the same time she felt awe during the meeting, adding: I was successful in my meeting with the good Imam, and I thank those who helped me in that.
The Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, received the blind Al-Azhar student, Maryam Abdel Aziz, who completed memorizing the Book of God Almighty despite her loss of sight, in a meeting that reflects her determination, superiority, and scientific excellence.
The Grand Imam praised the student Maryam’s mastery of memorizing the Holy Qur’an and her mastery of the rules of recitation, praising her determination and strong will, stressing that what she achieved is an honorable model for the students of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and evidence of the ability of people of determination to achieve success and excellence. He also encouraged her to continue her academic and Qur’anic career, and to continue diligence and excellence, expressing his appreciation to her mother and her family for their role. The Sheikh of Al-Azhar directed us to adopt the talent of the student Maryam, and to work to provide her with the necessary support and care, and to meet her educational and living needs, in a way that contributes to completing her path and achieving her future ambitions.
