The accused of killing his father and wounding his mother inside the village of Qenawiyah, Nag Hammadi center, north of Qena Governorate, made detailed confessions before the investigating authorities, during which he admitted to committing the incident, stressing that he was not fully conscious at the time of committing the crime.
The 44-year-old defendant said, during his confessions, that he has been suffering from a mental illness for nearly two years, and is receiving psychological treatment intermittently, noting that he is experiencing cases of loss of control and lack of awareness of his actions.

The accused added that on the day of the incident, he had a severe nervous attack, which caused him to lose his ability to distinguish, which led him to assault his father, who was 72 years old, using a knife, which resulted in his immediate death. He also stabbed his mother, who was in her sixties, causing several stab wounds.
Investigations revealed that he also attempted to assault his brother during the incident, but the latter managed to escape before the people were able to control him and inform the security services.
The security services of the Qena Security Directorate had arrested the accused after receiving a report from the Nag Hammadi Police Station stating that an elderly man had been killed and his wife had been stabbed inside their home in the village of Qenawiyah.
The accused and the weapon used in the crime were seized, and the body of the victim and the injured person were transferred to Nag Hammadi General Hospital. A report on the incident was drawn up, while the Public Prosecution initiated investigations and decided to refer the accused to psychiatry to determine his condition at the time of committing the incident, while assigning the Investigation Unit to complete investigations and uncover the circumstances of the incident.
