During the year 2025, the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome presented a year full of diverse cultural and artistic activities and events, reflecting the richness of the creative movement and its pivotal role in enhancing the Egyptian cultural presence in Europe.

The year witnessed the organization of 26 cultural seminars in various fields, in addition to two international conferences. The first dealt with intellectual property issues, while the second discussed Egyptian literature between the past and the present.

Egyptian Academy of Arts activities

The artistic activities varied to include 18 plastic arts exhibitions, and 18 concerts, the most prominent of which were performances by the Orchestra of Light and Hope, the Arab Youth Orchestra, and the Italian Military Music Band, in addition to 4 performances of popular arts (folklore), two cinematic activities, two theatrical workshops, and 3 plastic arts workshops.

Within the framework of openness to the public, the Academy organized 20 events during which its doors were opened to visitors to the Museum of Tutankhamun Reproductions, which contributed to spreading awareness of ancient Egyptian civilization and enhancing cultural communication with European society.

The Academy also hosted a number of major celebrations, including a celebration on the occasion of the National Day and the anniversary of the July Revolution, held by the Vatican Embassy in Italy, and another celebration on the occasion of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, organized by the Egyptian Embassy in Rome and the Defense Office attached to the embassy, ​​in addition to a celebration held in coordination with the Embassy of the sister Republic of Iraq.

In terms of cultural initiatives, the Academy launched a group of important initiatives, the most prominent of which are:
• “Egypt Lover” initiative
• Egypt-Italy and Academic Neighborhood Initiative
• Eight weeks about ancient Egyptian civilization
• The Egyptian Academy and Arab Civilization Initiative

During the next phase, the Academy also aims to sign three international agreements with prominent Italian institutions, within the framework of supporting and enhancing joint cultural and artistic cooperation. The Academy was also keen to raise the Egyptian flag inside the academic campus and in front of the Egyptian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.

The year witnessed the arrival of a number of valuable artistic donations, most notably a painting by the great artist Ragheb Ayyad, and a painting of the Star of the East by Umm Kulthum, in addition to a group of works by distinguished Egyptian visual artists. The Academy also received a number of important Arabic and foreign books that represent a qualitative addition to the Academy’s library holdings.

The Academy also published four books; The first documents the history of the academy from its inception until the present time, the second deals with intellectual property, the third discusses Egyptian literature between the past and the present, while the fourth book monitors the academy’s achievements during the artistic and cultural season 2024-2025.

During the year, the Academy cooperated with a large number of prominent cultural institutions and bodies, including: the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Italian Parliament, La Sapienza University, Tor Vergata University, Rome University of Fine Arts, the FAI Foundation, the Municipality of Rome, the Municipality of Furano, the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia, the Music Department of Public Funds Investigations, the Belgian Academy, the Philharmonic Academy, the Russian House, the Convartgianato Foundation, the Naguib Mahfouz School in Milan, and the Libyan School.

The Director of the Academy, Dr. Rania Yahya, also participated in many international events, seminars and conferences, and published a children’s book entitled “Egypt is My Country” in Arabic and Italian, within the framework of promoting the Academy and encouraging cultural tourism to Egypt.

In this context, Dr. Rania Yahya expressed her happiness at holding these important artistic and cultural activities and events, stressing that they reflect the role of the Academy as an Egyptian cultural beacon abroad, working to build bridges of cultural cooperation between Egypt and the European community from the heart of the Italian capital, Rome.
