Mohamed Ramadan, former sports director of Al-Ahly Club, revealed the behind-the-scenes of Mahmoud Kahraba’s punishment in the 2024 Egyptian Super Championship, and Imam Ashour’s punishment after his crisis with Mohamed El-Shenawy.

Statements of Muhammad Ramadan

Mohamed Ramadan said in statements with the journalist, Ahmed Schubert, about the Kahraba crisis: Kohler went in to talk to the players and congratulate them after the Ceramica match, but Kahraba transgressed against him and said something that was not obscene, but it could not be said.

Muhammad Ramadan added: You had recently come, and based on that, it would have been determined how to deal with you, and the decision was harsh, but it was necessary, and I made the decision to return to Egypt without returning to Al-Khatib.

The former sports director of Al-Ahly Club continued: Kahraba apologized after returning to Cairo, and I told him that he had wronged the technical director and his teammates, and I asked him to apologize to them, and that was done, and after that this incident was forgotten, and Kohler was not affected by the incident, and he surprised me by including the player, and she was not happy with me because he made a mistake and had to be punished.

Muhammad Ramadan added about Imam Ashour’s punishment, saying: Imam Ashour is the best player in Egypt, but I decided that he should train alone and the mistake is the same, so the punishment was obligatory, and if it had been minor, I would have sympathized with him. It was not right for Imam Ashour to deal with his captain El-Shenawy in the way he dealt with him, and I see that the severe punishments caused discipline after that.

In another context, Mohamed Ramadan said: Psychological preparation is very important for the player and I used to take my children to prepare myself if there was any problem, and after my agreement with the technical director, I backed down because of my session with him when I was surprised that he wanted to have a technical vision within the team, and I thanked God for his appearance many times after that in the media because he confirmed the validity of my decision to withdraw his presence.

Mohamed Ramadan continued: We are accustomed to the football director being a former big star on the team, which is something that complements the work of the technical director, and the successes of Sayed Abdel Hafeez are great, and it will be an addition because I see that he was the best in Egypt and Sayed Abdel Hafeez deserved to be on the board of directors.

Mohamed Ramadan concluded: I hope that Walid Salah El-Din will learn from the experiences of Sayed Abdel Hafeez, and I have always loved him and he has a good history, and I believe that he has gone beyond the stage of pressure. In my opinion, there cannot be a planning committee with a sports director present, or for it to exist but work through him and not through the club president.
