The Thai Ministry of Defense announced that Cambodia continued to launch attacks on border areas belonging to Thailand, which prompted the Thai forces to respond and take additional security measures, which included expanding the scope of the curfew in the border regions.

Thai Defense Ministry spokesman Admiral Surasant Kongsiri said Sunday morning that Thailand carried out response operations in accordance with internationally recognized rules of engagement and international practices, according to the Bangkok Post.

Curfew in four regions

Kongsiri explained that Cambodia resumed its attacks at 5:15 a.m. along the border with northeastern and eastern Thailand, stressing that the shooting did not stop as the Cambodian authorities had announced.

He added that the Royal Thai Navy decided to impose a curfew in four areas of Trat Province, namely Khlong Yai, Bu Rai, Khao Sameng and Muang, from seven in the evening until five in the morning.

He pointed out that this step comes after a similar ban was imposed earlier on four areas in the San Kayo region, east of the country, as part of strengthening security measures and protecting the population.
