The Arab Republic of Egypt condemned the armed attack that took place in the Australian city of Sydney, affirming its rejection of all forms of violence and extremism, and stressing its firm position calling for concerted international efforts to confront all forms of violence and extremism.

The Foreign Ministry explained, in a statement, that the Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to the friendly government and people of Australia.

12 people were killed in the shooting incident

In a related context, Australian police said that 12 people were killed in a shooting incident that occurred on the famous Bondi Beach in Sydney, during an event to commemorate the Jewish Festival of Lights.

She added that one of the attackers was killed, while another was critically injured, while 29 people were taken to hospitals for treatment.

The police described the incident as a terrorist attack, confirming that the shooting occurred during a gathering in which more than a thousand people participated. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that what happened represented a dark moment in the country’s history, pledging to use all available resources to protect Jewish citizens.
