A specialized medical team at Al-Azhar University Hospital in New Damietta succeeded in performing precise surgery for an advanced case of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS), which is considered one of the most dangerous and delicate surgical challenges in the field of obstetrics. Because it is associated with a high risk of severe bleeding and surgical complications.

The surgery was performed with complete success without recording any complications, according to a precise treatment plan based on multidisciplinary teamwork, which included prior diagnosis using modern imaging methods, advanced surgical preparation, and careful management of bleeding in accordance with the latest approved medical protocols, which resulted in the preservation of the uterus and the mother’s health, and her discharge from the hospital in a stable and good general condition.
This precise medical intervention came with the support and care of Dr. Rashid Muhammad Rashid, Dean of the College of Medicine for Boys in Damietta, and Dr. Adel Diab, Director General of the University Hospital, and under the leadership of Dr. Walaa Al-Basiouni, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, under the supervision of Dr. Ihab Al-Helou, and with the participation of the surgical team consisting of Dr. Muhammad Thabet, Dr. Ahmed Shafiq, and resident physician Qasim Aoun.
The anesthesia and intensive care team also participated in the operation, which included Dr. Mahmoud Saeed and resident doctor Tariq Al-Hadidi, along with the nursing team represented by nurse Yara Abdel Hamid, within the framework of an integrated work system that aimed to achieve the highest safety rates for the patient.
This success reflects Al-Azhar University Hospital in New Damietta’s possession of the latest medical equipment and technologies necessary to deal with critical and complex cases, including rapid blood transfusion equipment, bleeding control means, and advanced support for anesthesia and intensive care, as well as the application of the Multidisciplinary Team Approach, which contributed to achieving distinguished treatment results and reducing complication rates to the lowest possible extent.
