During a field follow-up of a number of dairy stores in various governorate centers, it was noted that the prices of milk, yogurt and their derivatives remained stable, as the price of a kilogram of loose local yoghurt ranged between 20 and 25 pounds, while the price of a kilogram of packaged yoghurt ranged between 20 and 30 pounds according to the type and brand.
The price of a kilo of local yogurt also stabilized at between 20 and 25 pounds, while the price of a package of ready-made yogurt ranged between 7 and 12 pounds, depending on the size.
Regarding other dairy products, the price of a kilo of plain yoghurt ranged between 20 and 25 pounds, the price of a kilo of local cream ranged from 100 to 150 pounds, while the price of a kilo of local butter ranged between 150 and 220 pounds. On the other hand, imported butter recorded prices ranging between 250 and 300 pounds per kilo, amid limited demand compared to the local product.
Cheese prices
As for cheese prices, they remained stable, as the price of a kilo of local white cheese ranged between 75 and 100 pounds, and cottage cheese recorded prices ranging between 50 and 75 pounds per kilo, with increasing demand for it among citizens due to its adoption in healthy diets.
The price of a kilo of Romanian cheese ranged between 200 and 250 pounds, while Turkish cheese reached between 150 and 200 pounds per kilo.
In the processed and canned cheese sector, prices also stabilized, as the price of a kilo of triangle cheese ranged between 120 and 160 pounds, depending on the brand, while the price of a kilo of cheddar cheese ranged between 150 and 220 pounds, while the price of a kilo of mozzarella cheese reached between 160 and 220 pounds, with continued demand for it in light of the spread of fast food in homes.
A number of dairy traders explained that the current state of stability is due to the regular supply of raw milk from farms, in addition to relative stability in production and transportation costs, which was reflected in the market movement, which is witnessing moderate activity that is likely to increase during the coming period.
The executive authorities in the New Valley Governorate continue their monitoring campaigns on dairy stores and cheese outlets, to ensure the quality of the products and their suitability for human consumption, and adherence to the announced prices, within the framework of preserving the health of citizens and the stability of the markets.
