The major steel companies operating in Egypt have notified all distributors and traders of the increase in rebar prices, by about 2,800-3,500 pounds per ton. According to each company.

The official notifications of the major iron companies to traders, which were reviewed by Cairo 24, showed an increase in the prices of rebar starting from today, Thursday.

High prices for rebar

Ezz Steel Company officially notified merchants and agents that the price of a ton of Ezz Steel has become 37 thousand pounds, factory delivery includes 18% value-added tax, and merchants are allowed to sell at a higher or lower price depending on market competition.

The Suez Steel Company also raised the price of a ton of rebar to 36.5 thousand pounds, an increase of 3,500 pounds, and Egyptian Steel notified merchants that the new price is 36,500 pounds, an increase of 2,800 on factory floor delivery, including 18% value-added tax.

Beshay Steel Company raised the price of a ton of rebar by about 3,000 pounds to 37,000 pounds, amounting to 38,500 pounds to the consumer.

Cancel price discounts

Earlier, Ahmed El-Zeini, head of the Building Materials Division at the Chambers of Commerce, revealed to Cairo 24 that some steel companies are moving to reduce the discounts granted to merchants on rebar.

El-Zeini explained to Cairo 24 that Ezz Steel reduced the discounts granted to trade by about 2,800 pounds, while Suez Steel reduced these discounts by about 3,500 pounds.
