Businessman Ahmed Masoud calls for legislation to put a maximum limit on childbirth

Masoud confirmed in a post on his personal page on the social networking site Facebook: I call on the state to enact urgent legislation to set a maximum limit on the birth of children at 3 children for each husband and wife.

He added that if the number exceeds the specified number, the husband is required to pay a fine of 100,000 pounds for each child, stressing that this legislation prevents an increase in the burden on the state, because there are people who have 6 or 7 children, stressing that the large population growth puts great pressure on public resources and services.

He pointed out that the legislation aims to enhance community awareness of the dangers of population increase and its impact on the sustainability of basic services for citizens.

On the other hand, Gamal Abdel Mawla, Director General of the General Administration of Vital Statistics at the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, had previously confirmed that Egypt’s internal population had reached 108 million people, according to what was recorded by the agency’s population clock, indicating that there was a noticeable slowdown in the pace of population increase during the recent period.

Abdel Mawla said in television statements that achieving the last million population increase took 287 days, equivalent to 9 months and 17 days, which is a longer period than the period taken by the previous increase, which is an indication of a decline in the birth rate or a slowdown in the natural increase of the population.
