The British Ministry of Defense announced, on Saturday, that British Royal Air Force aircraft, along with French aircraft, carried out an air strike targeting an underground facility north of the Palmyra region in Syria, as part of operations aimed at preventing the return of ISIS.
The ministry added in a statement that the planes used Paveway 4 guided bombs to target several tunnels leading to the facility.
She also added that a detailed evaluation of the operation is now underway, explaining that initial indicators indicate that the target was successfully engaged.
Damascus officially joined the international coalition against ISIS during the visit of Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to Washington late last year.
