Former MP Mona Jaballah resolved the controversy surrounding the Salah Salem Road accident, categorically denying what was circulated about her running over a citizen, and stressing that this description is not based on the facts of the accident or the correct legal definition.
Mona Jaballah reveals the circumstances of Salah Salem’s accident
Jaballah explained, in an official statement, that the incident resulted from the car sliding due to water accumulating on the road, which led to it colliding with a concrete block and a lighting pole falling on a person while he was sleeping on the sidewalk, which caused his death, without any direct contact between the car and the victim, according to what was stated in the forensic report.
She stressed that the use of the word “run over” linguistically implies suspicion of intentionality, which contradicts the reality of the accusation attributed to her in absentia, which lacks the moral element and criminal intent, stressing her full commitment to the procedures of the law and her respect for its provisions.
Mona Jaballah revealed that she addressed a number of news sites that published inaccurate information, and sent them official corrections, demanding that they be published in the same place and in the same space, in implementation of what the law stipulates, in order to preserve the right of reply and correct public opinion.
She concluded her statement by renewing condolences to the family of the deceased, stressing the importance of ensuring accuracy and professional responsibility when dealing with criminal incidents, because of their profound impact on justice and public opinion.
