The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israel was on the cusp of participating in a possible American attack on Iran over the weekend, but as Thursday approached, the operation was postponed to an unspecified date. A meeting of the Israeli Security Political Council will be held today, to review defensive and offensive preparations, amid the continued possibility of reaching a political agreement between Washington and Tehran, despite the escalating possibilities of military escalation.
The Hebrew report added that in Tehran, a threatening message was broadcast via a Lebanese channel warning of the repercussions of the attack on the world order, indicating a potential impact on China and Russia. Iran is preparing to confront any possible mistake by the American or Israeli forces, while the United States and Israel are working to develop precise attack plans to target Iranian nuclear and missile facilities, including the capabilities of Hezbollah and the Houthis.
All scenarios remain on the table: a partial agreement, a limited attack, or a broad and prolonged campaign. The final decision will be in Washington, but its repercussions will reach Tehran, Tel Aviv, and the rest of the capitals of the region.
The talks did not collapse
On the other hand, a senior Iranian official confirmed that the indirect talks with Washington have not officially collapsed, and that a new round will be held early next March, with the possibility of reaching a temporary agreement. However, disagreement still exists over the scope of lifting sanctions in exchange for restrictions on the nuclear program, with Iran insisting on its right to enrich uranium for civilian purposes.
The official noted that Iran has offered the United States the opportunity to invest in its oil sector, becoming a trading partner without giving up its control over national resources.
These statements come at a time when the United States continues to strengthen its military presence in the region, with the movements of the aircraft carrier “Gerald R. Ford” in the Mediterranean, while the commander of the Iranian ground forces confirms that all enemy movements are monitored around the clock to ensure complete deterrence.
In Tehran, pro-regime demonstrations were held during which the flags of the United States and Israel were burned, while student protests against the authorities continued, reflecting the social and political division within the country in light of international tensions.
