In a dialogue characterized by frankness and humanity, the artist Rania Farid Shawqi opened her heart to the audience during her interview on the Between the Lines program with the journalist Youmna Badrawi, revealing personal and human secrets for the first time, and confirming that she hates routine and cannot adhere to it, saying: “One of my faults is that I am moody and I cannot follow the routine,” indicating that her relationship with the mirror is not strong: “The mirror is not my friend.”
Rania touched on the famous traffic accident that brought her together with the artist Mona Zaki, stressing that Mona was the most affected by the accident, explaining that when she opened her eyes after the accident, the first thing she saw was her father, the great artist Farid Shawqi, in a moment she described as unforgettable and that changed many things in her life.
Rania revealed human details about her father’s relationship with the artist Hoda Sultan, confirming that their marriage lasted 18 years, and that Hoda Sultan was the one who requested the divorce, noting that her father was a homely person, and that the relationship between everyone was based on friendship and respect, saying: “We are all family and no one is carrying anyone’s need.”
She also spoke about her mother, Suheir Turk, stressing that she was a woman who loved art and wrote poetry, and was completely devoted to her husband, accompanying him everywhere, even when traveling, describing her as a true support in Farid Shawqi’s life.
Regarding the most difficult moments of her life, Rania said that the day of her father’s farewell was one of the harshest days, especially since she was pregnant with her daughter Farida, adding with great emotion: “After the departure of my father, everything good was gone… his tenderness and generosity, a father who is not like him and will not be repeated,” likening it to the famous song of Umm Kulthum: You are not like yourself.
Rania Farid Shawqi broke down in tears on air when a picture of her father with her daughters was shown, which was implemented with artificial intelligence, stressing that her father and daughters are the most precious thing she owns, and that his presence among them would have given them great strength in life.
Her husband, Tamer Al-Sarraf, also sent a touching message on the program screen, which Rania described as proof that he is a “son of assets,” noting that respect and understanding are the foundation of any successful relationship.
She spoke about Farid Al-Murshidi, her sister’s son, stressing that life is short and there is nothing worth quarreling with, calling for tolerance and reunification, saying that time is enough to reveal the value of the family.
On the artistic level, Rania admitted that she was unlucky cinematically, and strongly attacked the phenomenon of trends, stressing: “The trend now is painful and inhumane, and I do not open it because I put myself in the place of its owner.”
At the conclusion of her speech, Rania Farid Shawqi revealed her vision of relationships, stressing that the marriage of artists to each other rarely succeeds, because the artist needs a full-time and understanding partner and not an artist like him, explaining that she learned from the mistakes of her separation, and that running after only the heart may lead to a mirage, and she concluded by emphasizing that understanding and sincere intentions are the true basis for building a successful family that brings everyone together under one roof.
