Polish Wojciech revealed Chesney Barcelona goalkeeper, about the great sacrifice he made in order to join the ranks of the Catalan club after he announced his retirement from football permanently.
Szczesny, 35 years old, announced his final retirement from football in August 2024 after the end of his contract with Juventus, before retracting his decision after receiving an offer from the Spanish club Barcelona.
Wojciech Szczesny’s statements
Wojciech Szczesny said in press statements: Just three days before officially announcing my retirement, I told Robert Lewandowski that I did not want to play for any club except Barcelona.
The Polishman explained: When Barcelona contacted me, he probably knew that convincing me would be easy. I did not lose my passion for football, but I was not enthusiastic about the offers I received from clubs on the top ten list.
Chesney reported: It was not about money; I didn’t want to play just for a paycheck.
The Polish goalkeeper concluded: Everything I got from Barcelona was exactly what I needed to settle my dues with Juventus and terminate my contract early.
