Al-Ismaili reveals the details of an investment merger proposal to save the club from the specter of relegation
Gheit explained in a message to the club’s fans that Ismaili is going through difficult circumstances that include large debts, suspension of registration and a severe shortage of resources, which prompted the administration to consider a partnership proposal with an investment entity to support the football team during the next season.
The proposal, as presented, includes the establishment of a joint football entity between Ismaili and an investment club, with the team participating in competitions under a common name while preserving the club’s logo and colours, with the agreement limited to the football sector only and not the rest of the activities.
The proposal also includes paying the club’s debts to FIFA to lift the suspension of registration, in exchange for continuing to bear the club’s government debts, in addition to developing the football sector, contracting with new players and coaches, and developing the stadium and the players’ hotel.
According to the proposal, the football system will be managed through a five-member committee that includes four members from the investment club and one member from Ismaili, with a participation rate of 51% for the investment party compared to 49% for the club.
Gheit stressed that the club’s name, identity and history represent a fundamental focus in the current discussions, noting that the final decision will be presented to an extraordinary general assembly to take the decision in accordance with the regulations, as it is the body that has the right to decide the club’s future.
Gheit concluded his statements by emphasizing his adherence to the interests of the Ismaili Club, and his keenness to preserve its identity and history, even if a decision is made to step away from his position.
