Al-Ahly’s football management is seeking to resolve two crises in the next few hours to provide stability for the first football team in the African Champions League and the league.
Walid Salah El-Din, director of football, will hold a meeting with Hussein El-Shahat and Ahmed Nabil Kouka within hours to resolve the file for renewing their contracts, which expire at the end of the season. Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the club president, asked Walid Salah El-Din to quickly complete the contract renewal file, especially for the duo, after Malian Aliou Dieng closed the file completely and settled on a free departure from the Red Castle to the Spanish League after his agreement with Valencia.
In another direction, the Football Administration confirmed that the Spanish former coach, Jose Ribeiro, refused to obtain the penalty clause stipulated in his contract, estimated at three months, after his contract was terminated at the end of August 2025 due to a decline in results. The administration said that the coach requested compensation because of what he described as his exposure to harm and his inability to work with any team until last January.
The administration added that they told Ribeiro’s lawyer before he went to file a complaint against Al-Ahly – which is what actually happened – that the contract is clear and is the basis of the deal, and stipulates the payment of a three-month penalty clause in the event of termination of the contract, which amounts to 285 thousand dollars.
