Major General Tariq Rashid described the governor Sohag Al-Asirat Central Hospital in Al-Kharaba, after inspecting it with Kamal Suleiman, Deputy Governor, Dr. Amr Dowidar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, and Yasser Nasr, Member of the House of Representatives for the district, a few days ago, which opened many questions about the deterioration of the service provided to citizens in the hospital.

Representative Yasser Nasr Al-Hawari, a member of the House of Representatives for the Jarga and Al-Asirat district in Sohag Governorate, submitted an urgent briefing request to Counselor Hisham Badawi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, addressed to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Health and Population, and the Minister of Local Development, regarding what he described as the collapse of the Al-Asirat Central Hospital.

The representative explained in his request, submitted based on Article 134 of the Constitution and Article 212 of the Council’s internal regulations, that the statement of the Governor of Sohag during an inspection tour of the hospital a few days ago, in which he acknowledged that the hospital is a ruin, is an official acknowledgment of the deterioration of the health system in the department, and a direct condemnation of the executive bodies affiliated with the governorate and the ministry.

Al-Hawari indicated that he had previously submitted briefing requests in which he warned of the deteriorating conditions of the hospital, including on January 21, 2026, in which he explained that the Asirat Central Hospital had completely stopped providing medical services to citizens, stressing that the failure of the Health Directorate and the Health Administration to perform their oversight role led to the situation reaching this stage of neglect.

He noted that describing the hospital as a ruin requires holding the executive official who owns the budget and decisions accountable, and not admonishing the representative who used his constitutional oversight tools early and officially informed the ministry with fixed documents. The representative rejected attempts to turn the Health Directorate’s executive negligence into media material, while the citizen in Asirat pays the price for this negligence in terms of his health and his life.

The representative stressed that the briefing request would be referred very urgently to the Health Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, with officials from the Ministry of Health and the Sohag Health Directorate being summoned to investigate the reasons for ignoring previous requests, and to set an immediate timetable for restarting the hospital and raising its efficiency.
Representative Yasser Nasr, Public Relations at the Sohag Governor’s Office, called for the full video of the meeting to be published, explaining that the circulating clip had been cut, and did not include his response regarding the negligence of the executive authorities in the hospital file.
